SPINAL RIDDLE
Biomechanical tools for a healthier movement

Axis Syllabus workshop
with Filippo Serra

“You are old as your spine”, says a Chinese proverb.
Evolutionary and embryologically wise, our spine, is “where we come from” and the state of it can really mirror our state of health.
As humans, we developed from water creatures to reptiles and then mammals and still, we bring the heritage of this evolution.
Understanding the anatomy and mechanic of the spine can allow us to move with more efficiency, endurance, and safety. Whatever is your movement practice (sport, dance, contact improvisation, daily activities) with these informations you can really improve the quality of it.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS WORKSHOP?

Some theory about how the design of our body is influencing our way of moving and how to use in the best way the physical forces that are constantly acting on it.
Rolling, ramping, crawling and jumping applications
Spinal waves, solo and partnering dances and...a lot FUN!

ABOUT FILIPPO SERRA

I like to define myself as a curious “mover”.
My interest is crossing the fields of martial arts, dance, training, performance and the moving body in general.
After graduating in physical education I began my studies in theatre and contemporary dance and I ended working on stage besides teaching movement to different kinds of people.
Today I'm a versatile performer who likes to mix my knowledge from different disciplines of movement.
Science and traditions are mixed in what I teach and how I move.
